Video: Cryptography in the Payment Industry

As long standing advocates of the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) we are pleased to reveal our CTO Andrew Hodges, was invited to participate in the PCI SSC North America Community virtual meeting in October and delivered a presentation on cryptography in the payment industry.

With over 20 years of experience in the payment industry including a wide variety of payment security approvals, Andrew’s presentation provided an overview of how cryptography is used behind the scenes in the world of payments and discussed the role of a Payment HSM. In addition to this, the presentation explored:

  • What is a Payment HSM
  • The different types of HSMs available to perform cryptographic functions
  • The PCI standards which require the use of a Payment HSM
  • A detailed description of transaction processing and key management – using an example of an online PIN transaction
  • What is involved in managing a Payment HSM
  • How Payment HSMs as a Service can help

The presentation can be viewed in full below and is available on MYHSM YouTube Channel.

All organisations that process electronic payments can use MYHSM’s PCI PIN compliant Payment HSM Service to ensure they are adhering to the current industry standards without the need to purchase and host their own payment HSMs. For more information on our services email: info@myhsm.com
